Surgery risk if you ignore the pain

I’m in the golden age of golf. It is transforming from an exclusive property of rich middle-aged men to a popular sport enjoyed by both men and women. This is due to the increased demand for relatively safe outdoor hobbies in the aftermath of COVID-19. Golf courses (行) of ‘golins (golf + children)’in their 20s and 30s who have given up their dream of traveling abroad are also increasing. According to the KB Financial Group Management Research Institute, the golf population reached 5.15 million last year, up 460,000 from 2019.

Golf is considered a relatively “easy sport”because it is not as intense as other sports such as soccer and basketball. However, since the entire body is used from the waist to the shoulders, arms, 강남피쉬안마 wrists, legs, etc., it is easy to get injured if flexibility or muscle strength is not supported. As the actual number of golfers increased and the number of “golf injuries”also increased, the Korea Sports Science and Sports Association held a seminar on golf injuries.

Experts warn that ignoring pain and playing golf may lead to chronic pain or require surgery. I looked at where I could get hurt while playing golf, how to treat an injury, and how to prevent it.

A typical golf injury is ‘golf elbow’. Excessive use of the muscles that bend the wrist with repeated swings or accidental hitting of the “back ground”(the ground behind the ball) causes damage to elbow ligaments and muscles. The exact name of the golf elbow is scoliosis, which causes inflammation inside the bones protruding from both sides of the elbow

If you have scoliosis, you feel pain from the inside of your elbow to your wrist and fingers. If you feel pain every time you turn the handle of the door, and when you shake hands with someone else, you should suspect scoliosis. According to the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, the number of patients with scoliosis in Korea increased from about 160,000 in 2016 to about 190,000 last year.

For the same reason, wrist injuries can also occur. If you bend your wrist too much or turn the club clockwise strongly during the backswing, the risk of “hand tendonitis”(an inflammation of your joints) increases. Carpal tunnel syndrome, well known as ‘hand tunnel syndrome’, also occurs frequently in golfers. In severe cases, there may be cracks in the egret (carval bone) of the wrist bone. Whenever I hold a club or swing, the pain gets bigger.

You often hurt your shoulder or back when you are backswinging. Starting the backswing based on right-handed players, the left arm stretches out, putting pressure on the shoulder joint that connects the arm and the body. At the same time, the right arm may have Shoulder Collision Syndrome, which causes inflammation when the rotator cuff, a shoulder tendon, hits the bone above it
